| Aileen's Background |
| |
| Aileen was born in New York City and at the age of 6, her parents took her to
live in the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico , where her family is from. Aileen
went to school in Puerto Rico all the way through High School, from which she
graduated with high honors. An outstanding Oratory, Poetry and Literature competitor
(“what a magnetic and enchanting voice”), a true leader and a career in acting
and modeling; all during her school years. She was a natural. And those who
knew her well would ad that, her sweet and caring persona would win the heart
of anyone . |
| From the very early age of 6, Aileen has been on stage; using her voice, her charisma and her talent to bring light and love into people’s lives. She was involved in acting in theater, Music Videos and TV commercials in Puerto Rico. She also participated in beauty pageants as a teen. At the age of 18, she decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree and landed at Ohio University, Athens, OH, where she was part of the Honors Tutorial College (by invitation only, 2 students per major were selected out of 25,000 students to obtain an advanced degree). Aileen completed her B.A. in Spanish Creative Writing and a Minor in Theater Arts within 3 ½ years and graduated summa
cum laude. Her thesis was titled: Puerto Rico: Living the Eternal Eve of Change and was received extremely well. |
Not clear about what direction she wanted to take with her career (she knew she wanted to help others but wasn’t sure to what degree: International Affairs?.. to help underdeveloped countries; a Ph.D. in Literature?.. and teach students at a College level; or something in Psychology?.. but not sure what that might be), Aileen decided to take a couple of years off to test the tough streets of New York City’s work force. She worked in Wall Street and in the mean time was testing the market of Voiceovers. Wall Street took her to San Francisco, CA and from there she became clear about her true path: Counseling Psychology; to touch people’s lives one by one and help them find
guidance from within. |
Still
working in the field of Investors to support herself through her
Master's degree; she ended completing her M.A. from National University
in 1999 from San Diego . Started her trainee counseling work at
the YWCA working with the Domestic Violence population. Around
the same time, began working at New Attitudes, an inpatient facility
for women with Eating Disorders. She was then offered her first
full time position as a Bilingual Counselor during her intern period
with the Community Resource Foundation organization. She worked in their South
Bay Clinic and Maria Sardiñas Clinic; facilities for the severely mentally
ill. This is where her clinical training truly took strength. She had the fortune
to be supervised by an amazing Psychologist, Chris Ferrera, Ph.D., and after
a year, still as an Intern; Aileen was offered the position of Program Coordinator
at their Satellite office . |
All
along, her Spiritual side was also evolving. Engaged in a weekly
Circle of Meditation with the gifted Hypnotherapist Shirley Boyle;
her journey of touching the soul and healing others became even
stronger. She attended a couple of workshops with Reverend Devra
West, a magnificent master and teacher of light and the connection
with the heart. This is when her guided imagery began to take its
wings. |
Soon
she began recording guided imagery pieces for clients with Anxiety
Disorders, Sleep Disorders, Depression, Trauma of Abuse, Low Self
Esteem, Healing the Inner Child, Healing one's heart, … and before
she could blink, something amazing was already happening: SHE WAS
CHANGING PEOPLE'S LIVES! Within her counseling sessions she was
beginning to notice how all her gifts were blending in: the creativity – using
some Gestalt techniques of psychodrama; her ability to open her
heart to others and truly be present with her clients; her gifted
patience; her loving voice; and that intuition that has always
guided her to know what others really need. It was working! Clients'
improvements were proof of this. |
So she decided to explore Orange County by the end of the year 2000 and started her work with Olive Crest Treatment Centers, counseling children with trauma of abuse.
During the same year, Aileen began doing workshops for Motivation; Healing the Inner Child and Assertiveness. Her presentation on Finding Your Voice – Assertiveness Training in Spanish, at the FACT Collaborative Annual Conference on May 15, 2003; received fantastic reviews and was accompanied by one of her CDs titled the same: Finding
My Voice. She got married in the year 2002; another blessing from God. Her husband, William Earl Nealie; who is a very respected Audio and Video Engineer, began helping Aileen in recording and producing her guided imagery CDs professionally
. |
Aileen
Nealie got her Marriage and Family Therapist License in October
2003, after passing the oral exam
the first time she took it in September 2003. Since then, she has
her own private practice in Newport Beach , CA , continues recording
CDs in Spanish and English, is available for Public Speaking, Seminars
and Workshops, and will always offer phone sessions for guided
imagery, personalizing individual needs. |
| "I always felt like
I had something to offer to the world; yet society places great
value on titles. Now I have the title and can openly share
my gift with you, but my soul and heart knew how to give to
others, even before I consciously new I had this gift ." |
